1. Alcohol Substance disorders
Medicine name - Naltrexone commonly known as Vivitrol.
Description of the Medicine - This medicine was approved in 1995 . There are tow ways it can be taken one by injection and one by oral intake. It remains in the body for almost one month and the cycle should be repeated after one month.
Benefits - The working mechanism of the drug is associated with the brain . IN the brain it helps in reducing or we can say restricting the activity of opioid receptors . This helps in reducing the craving or need of substances such as alcohol or other types of drugs .
2. Opiate disorders-
Drug Name - Methadone
Description of the medicine - This medicine is used in the detoxification process of opiates like heroin. It is from the category of opioid analgesics .It takes most of the time orally .
Benefits - the drugs help the patient to get relief from the withdrawal symptoms and opioid cravings . it also targets the opioid receptors but in a different way . It reduces the injection craving that arise from heroin or any other opioid.
