As a Biomedical Engineer, you are working on a biomechanical project where you would like to design a mechanical robot to simulate human gait in positions of walking and running. Putting in considerations to record important gait parameters for this purpose, suggest 2 possible tools or systems required for gait measurement and justify how the suggested tools or systems can help you achieve your goal.
In order to have mechanical robot to simulate human gait in positions of walking and running the anaylsis of Gait prameters are necessary. These gait parameters basically aid in quantifying gait. They are subdivided into temporal parametrs and spatial gait parameters.Under temporal parameters we have Stride time, swing time and double support time. Also some of the useful common spatial gait paramets include the gait velocity or you could say walking speed, stride length etc.
The tool that you could use
is Kinesis Gait which is a tool for quantitative assessment of gait
and its mobility.By using sensors wherever necessary Kinesis Gait
will help you monitor gait during the walking test.
Secondly you could use GRF's which stands for Ground Reaction Force
which is more commomly used for Biomechanical measures and can help
in studying the gait movements which uses Newton's third law of
motion.Gait analysis can thus be done based on the assessment of
the GRF that has been recorded.
Also kinematic information of foot pose and angular orientation are
important variables.Tool based on free-leg hexapod machine tool
would also be useful. Here, torque analysis is studied to determine
the motor torque requirements for each step of the gait so that
your robotic structure gets to a stable pose.
