Few days ago, while walking on the road , I was suddenly stuck with a noise. I paid attention ans moved there to see what had happened. I found that few people caught a boy about 14 years. The charge against him was that the boy was caught red handed while stealing food. I handled the situation and consoled the angry mob. Then I took the boy away from the spot and asked him several question.
He informed me that he had been starving for more than 20 hours. He lived with his single mother who is now in police custody for stealing money. His father left them few years ago. Therefore he ia alone and there is nothing to eat. Therefore he is forced to take away food.
I am really shocked. I think that the boy is not guilty. From the ethical point of view he appears to be guilty. From the utilitarian point of view he is not guilty because he needs food and if there is no food, he will not live. His parents and the authority are responsible.
