Using professional, personal, or academic experience, describe an ethical situation you encountered or an ethical situation encountered and how it was handled.
An ethic in moral values or principles which we follow throughout our life so that we can understand what is right and what is wrong. It always explains people around us about good or bad deeds. An ethical situation in a professional experience is being discussed here.
After completing my studies from college I joined one of the best Technology company in my city. I was enjoying my work culture and salary. The company work environment was very participative and full of enthusiasm. My colleagues were experienced and good at helping me out. The incentives and perks, vacations, five days working, Saturday and Sunday full rest, A good and cheap canteen. I was in the clouds feeling like in heaven.
But one day I came across some details about the data that the company is showing incorrect information in every Quater numbers. As I was an internal communication representative, I was responsible for reporting the numbers to all employees within the company. The company was not publically trading, but reporting wrong detail it can easily gain market share and capital grom the market. The company was showing that it is in the blooming stage The recession time is tough for every new company to survive but to work in an unethical way is always wrong whatever may be the situation. In a private company, they do not reveal their disclosure statements. So company investors was being misguided and huge capital was being used. I can't take this anymore wanted to disclose everything so confirmed with my colleagues but they knew corporate culture and advised me to enjoy my work, salary and company benefits. I talked to my Seniors but they explained logic with full of business-minded situations. Taking pressure for a few days I became a whistleblower. Everyone was in shock and revealed all the disclosure statements for the last two quarters which was quiet enough to explain the whole scenario. I was thrown out of my new company but I was happy about my morals which were not accepting unethical business benefits. This was the truth that one day the company would have exposed but my intentions were to save people who were investing, my peers from being unemployed after working for such types of company. This is true I lost my first job and was in trouble for a few days still was relaxed after doing this. It was not at all easy being a new joiner in the company but was able to differentiate between good and bad. An ethical dilemma of making it correct by disclosing whatever was going in the company or just enjoy companies' benefits was quite tough. I wanted both but was not possible, I knew consequences of both things but chose an ethical way to solve this.
