Do you think that recent Covid-19 situation introduced additional stress to the health-care profession? Discuss it in the context of emotional labour.
The recent COVID-19 situation has created huge number of deaths in most of the countries even if the recovery rate is very high. But, due to the large number of cases coming up in countries like USA, Spain, Italy and India among the others. It has created emotional distress towards the health care workers of different level. The challenge to save lives and at the same time to save themselves, have increased. There are cases of interrupted supplies of safety equipments for health care workers such as PPE kits and proper accomodation for the health care workers in many countries. Further, resources are heavily used to fight COVID-19 and patients of other diseases or health care issues are also being suffered. It has also created negative impact upon the emotional aspect of the health care workers and overall health care profession. Besides, the pandemic has not given time as well as government could not prepare themselves in advance, that have added to the stress of facing patients who need urgent support and facilities are inadequate. So, overall result is to create emotional stress to the workers as well as health care procession as a whole.
