Complete this requirement by conducting some research using the Internet. Identify three diversity or equity issues that you think are the most challenging or important for you you personally, a group of individuals, the workplace, or for society in general. Write two paragraphs about each issue. Describe each issue and its relevance. What is it about the issue that makes it, in your view, diversity-related? Why do you consider it one of your Top Three diversity-related issue? Who do you think the issue affects? Have you or someone you know been personally or professionally affected by the issue? What actions do you think are necessary to remedy this issue? For each issue, provide links to, or citations for, the sources you used to gather information.
1. People with disabilities
Often people who are disabled/physically handicapped are encountered with discriminatory behaviour from the ones who are insensitive in nature. In most cases , people overlook their needs despite of knowing that they are having difficulties.
This should not be encouraged , but people should collectively work for it and make a better place for them . Maintaing and providing a fair place for disabled people should be given at the workplace.
2. Issues regarding Gender
In the workplace, discriminating gender is one of the common diversity issues . Men and women are discriminated . Women are not looked at an equal par with that of men.
Another issue which has come up recently is the, opportunity for transgender with equal pay in the workplace. Some companies are employing transgender , and believe that they can perform equally well as that of the traditional gender roles.
3. Communication Gap
A problem arises when a company hires an immigrant , who in turns is unable to communicate properly .
Improper way of communicating among the team members afffect the work . This in turn reduces the productivity of the company . Company hiring workers having the ability to speak in bilingual language , will imporve the communication gap and corordinate among the team members.
These are the three issues relating to diversity in the workplace . Diversity is a way in which the people thinks and motivate to work towards having a new and positive outlook among the employees of the company. It helps the company to look for profit , productivity , maintaining the morals of company etc.
These 3 diversity related issues are given top proximity by me , as these are the most controversial topics I have seen and faced. They are more important than any other issues. These issues are stressed upon and are most talked upon.
This affects the employers itself. Be it gender related , people having disability , people facing communication gap.
Actions for remedy :
1. Laws should be made stating equality for everyone . Women should enjoy equal rights to that of women . And as days are passing by, the society is evolving . People will get to see a better tommorow.
2. Remedy for communication gap is to provide training to the employers in order to smoothly run the management of the company .
3. People with disabilitites should be provided benefits . Their life should be easy in order to work in an organisation. Rather they should not be bullied .
