The Disney group is a huge organization operating in many countries all over the world and thus it has a large base of employees and customers In order to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the company, the Disney has utilized the concept of departmentalization
The company mainly utilizes two types of departmentalization namely functional and geographical departmentalization as it has a large organizational structure and it operates in number of locations
Functional departmentalization= For having the smooth and hassle-free operations of the different organizational activities, the different departments are divide on the basis of their functional activities. Every department is assigned with its specific has and every employee is working under a reporting manager and help the department to fulfill its objectives and goals and thus contributing towards the overall accomplishment of the organizational goals. This sort of departmentalization utilizes the cross-hierarchical team for effective communication It is important for the different departments to communicate and coordinate with each other so that the overall goal of the Disney can be accomplished
Geographic departmentalization is utilized by the company to manage its five different resorts in five different countries. It is not possible to have a single manager that can manage these all five reports so 5 different resort managers are employed and each resort as a number of departments working under his or her guidance.
