Self-talk is what we tell ourselves in the privacy of our own thoughts. It can be a powerful way of uplifting yourself or a dangerous way of hurting yourself. It is important to give ourselves positive messages on a daily basis (positive affirmations). a) If you have a recurring negative thought about yourself, write it down and examine it closely. Write down why you think this about yourself. b) Write down real life examples of why the negative thoughts may be distorted. If you still think they are true, then write about something you feel really good about and explain why you feel good about this. Write down two different positive messages (affirmations) you can use with your breathing to give yourself a lift. Affirmations are usually short and to the point. Make sure they work for you and don’t make you feel worse.
a) Negative thought that I always feel about myself is That " I am not good enough". I usually drown in this emotion of self-doubt and pity. I feel I don't have the skills or tools to achieve what you want . It often results in a low self esteem.
b) I blame for anything that goes wrong, like when my colleague did not smile at me because I did something to upset her. Whenever I attend a gathering and I look at myself, the way I'm dressed, The way I look, the way I present myself, I always feel I'm not good enough when compared to others present.
But I do feel good about how creative I am. I love art. Can spend hours painting and I feel good about this because it makes me feel relaxed, makes me feel fresh, and when everyone else praise my work I feel so proud.
The two positive messages i want to use to uplift myself is that " I am worthy of all I desire in this life, just like everyone else" and ‘I can do whatever I put my mind to’
