Each year the National Association for the Education of Young
Children celebrate the Year of the Young Child. I'm encouraging you
all to participate by creating an activity for classrooms or at
home that will follow the theme for the day
select a daily theme and write an activity that families can do
with their young child that fits that theme. When you send this you
need to include the activity name, the intended age for the
activity must be somewhere between birth and 8 years of age,
resources needed and instructions.
write one paragraph informing parents about how the activity you wrote assists children with their development.
At birth : baby is unable to lift head, closes eyes to bright light, opens eye when held in upright position, head falls backward if pulled to sit
1-3months : attentive to sounds made by your voice, begins to vocalise, smiles in response to speech, makes eye contact
4-6months : sits up with support, transfer objects from one hand to another, makes sounds such as mama or dada
7-9months : sits without support, wiggles and crawls, hold bottle
1 year : waves goodbye, walks holding one hand, holds spoon and small objects,
2 year : able to run, drinks from cup
3 year : speaks in sentences, asks question
4-6 years : ask meaning of words, goes downstairs, write name, can walk alone
6-8 years : ties shoe lace, fluent in speech
it is necessary to notice all these developments to analyse pattern of strength and weakness in child, and to see the maturation of brain functioning and musculoskeletal systems and also for early diagnosis
