Discuss the four main yogas/spiritual pathways to liberation followed by Hindu believers and provide examples of each when appropriate
Four pathways for liberation followed by Hindus are
1. Jnana yog
2. Karma yog
3. Bhakti yog
4. Dhyan yog
Jnana yog is all about self-realization and self-knowledge. It's all about silencing the physical and mental activities and enabling the spiritual and conscious activities.
Karma yoga expects us to speak, think, work without worrying about the results and consequences. It's about living the moment whole heartedly and with full conscious.
Bhakti yog helps us beautifying the heart and mind. It can be achieved by achieving devotion. The instruments of devotion are rituals, prayers and absolute faith in God.
Dhyan yog is the path of meditation which requires the realisation of inner self or soul. The person who is awakened and pays attention to his actions and results constantly learns new knowledge of the world. This is the knowledge that is acquired by oneself, not by the external world. This is self-realization which can be acquired by meditation.
