Note 1: The answers to Q2.1 and Q 2.2 should provide the background only. Most (at least 80%) of your answer to Q.2 should address Q2.3 including Q2.3.1 to 2.3.4.
Q.2.3 You decide to create a cross-functional matrix team to respond to this situation.
Q.2.3.1 Indicate who should be on this important cross-functional team, and explain why.
Q.2.3.2 Describe the goals that the team should strive to achieve.
Q.2.3.3 Describe the different roles that will need to be performed by this team and justify why.
Q.2.3.4 Describe the steps you will take to ensure that the team has a good balance between conformity and deviance and has a moderate level of cohesiveness.

(2.1) I am Managing Director of the organization called, CRAFTYLEARNING. This organization is dedicated towards providing one-stop solutions to all the learning problems in a crafty manner, whether it is content development, editing, alt-text writing, proof-reading etc.

(2.2) Due to the current situation of COVID -19 pandemic, the organization is facing increased demand for solutions for digital learning, as the schools are shut down. This involves greater demand for innovative content development and video lectures and assignments so that children can learn while at home. Also the office is shut down and people have to work from home.

(2.3) I decide to create a cross functional matrix team .

(2.3.1) I will start 3 projects namely :

Project 1 - Content Development

Project 2 - Video lessons

Project 3 - Editing and Proofreading

Under each project, there will be : HR department, Finance Department,IT department ,Subject leader, and the Subject matter experts. all of them will report to the respective Project Manager, whereas the SMEs will report to both Subject Leader and the HR manager.

Each Project manager will report to me.

(2.3.2) The team should strive to achieve the goal of timely completion of the projects with appropriate quality.

(2.3.3) In each project, the HR department will need to look after the attendance, salary, conflicts, and other issues of employees regarding the organization and organizational hierarchy.

Finance Department will look after the sales and purchase of the projects of company and maintain the balance sheets.

IT department will look after the software issues faced by the employees and how the work can be made more easier, innovative and faster.

Subject Leader will head the team of SMEs and provide them daily target and review their work for quality. The Leader will also be entrusted with duty of providing incentives and motivation to SMEs.

SMEs will be doing the ground level work and they will paid based on their target completion.

The Project Manager will get report from all the above mentioned departments. He will strive to achive the goal of organization by setting appropriate goals for each department and monitor them. He will motivate the employees to achieve the goals while conforming to the set rules and regulations with minimal deviance.

(2.3.4) I will ensure that the team has moderate level of cohesiveness along with a balance between conformity and deviance, by taking following steps;

* i will ensure that there is job rotation, which means employees will be shifted from one project to another depending on their experience and capabilities.

* i will ensure there is shift rotation, which means people working in night shift will be switched with people working in day shift.

Above 2 steps will ensure moderate level of cohesion.

* the salaries would be based on their completion of targets, if full targets will not be met then there salary will be deducted.. This will ensure balance betwen deviance and conformity.

*High performers will be rewarded whereas low performers will be given enough incentives so as to motivate them to achieve the targets.
