What are your thoughts on quarantining people who have active TB? Why is isolation mandated for this disease and not for others? Is forced isolation ethical?
according to me , quarantining people who have active TB are all public health interventions which are designed to protect the general population from being affected from that disease , it is important for them to, to make sure that this disease does not get introduced in an entirely TB free country, so quarantining people and keeping them in isolation , in special cares in hospitals , must be done with great responsibilty under the eye of specialised physicians keeping in mind the patients interest and which should not conflict with patient's liberty and autonomy .
Isolation is kept mandatory for people with TB because TB is a highly contagious bacterial infection ,which can easily and very effectively can spread to people inhaling the air which have already been contaminated through by an infected person , because it is an air borne disease.remember even a single bacillus in the air has the capacity to divide in millions and infect milions .
well , i believe forced isolation is not ethical , since it is compromising with the individuals privacy , interests and his liberty and freedom , but thinking of the risk of infection spreading to hundreds of more people , isolation has been kept mandatory by some public health authorisations , keeping in mind , their proper care being time to and time by specialised physicians. isolation are one of the important point to be kept in mind when we talk about any communicable disease ( especially when its air borne ).
