Compare the covalent bond with hydrogen bond.
Covalent bond is formed by sharing of the pair of electrons. This bond is formed in order to complete the duplete / octet.
For example HCl
Here H has 1 electrons in outer shell and it needs 1 electrons to complete its duplet. Cl in the other hand also need 1 electrons to complete its octet and when H share its one electrons with Cl then both will have complete duplete and octet respectively.
Structure of HCl
H- bond :
This is the bond formed between more electronegative atoms ( C , N and F) and H attached to these electronegative atoms.
This bond is nothing but the poor electrostatic force of attraction which appears due to partial positive and partial negative charges on H bonded to the electronegative atom and electronegative atoms respectively.
For example H bonding in two water molecules.
Structure:
As compare to covalent bond H- bond is less strong.
