If we sensed and attended equally to each stimulus in the world, the amount of information would be overwhelming. What sensory and perceptual processes help us lessen the din? List and describe at least three sensory or perceptual processes that help to filter information. Describe situations where the sensory and perceptual processes you discussed would be beneficial.

Solutions

Expert Solution

step-1

The process that helps to lessen the din would be the process of transduction which is when receptor converts the stimulus into neural impulsses that are sent to the brain through a process of coding.Diffrent physical stimuli is interpreted as distinct sensation because their neural impulses travel by diferent routes and arrive at different parts of the brain

step-2

Perception is subjective , active and creative process through which we assign the meaning of sensory information to understand ourselves and also others . perception is unique process . Everyone perception about any stimulus is different. The three preceptual process listed below that helps to fliter information.

A. Selection:

Selection attention , this has to do with any moment , we focus our awarness only limited of all that we experience .so we have very attentive for acquired information .

2. Organization and arrangements of information :

Now mind organise the information whatever he percieved at early stage .Bacically mind organized cluster of sensation into gestalt (whole).

C. Interpretation : this is the accuracy of interpersonal perception and judgement made on other people .

So in this way , diffrent process of perception helps to flittered accurate information.

step-3

Perceptual process is sequence of psychological process that a person use to organize and interpret information from outside of the world.perceptual process is based on imagination . So when we need to created such information then perceptual process is necessary . For example , when we draw the photo of eagle or writing a short story then perceptual process will be beneficial to arrange the idea and interpret it .

People equipped with senses such as sight , hearing , test , that helps to take world around us .so when need such practical experience through use of five senses then sensory processing is necessary and beneficial.
