People suffering from bulimia have normal weight in general, but these people eat in excess quantities whatever they want and rush off the calories by inducing vomiting or taking laxatives or by doing the excessive physical activity. It is mostly treated by Cognitive-behavioural therapy that focuses to increase self-monitoring of eating behavior. More than 50% of the bulimia nervosa patients suffer from amenorrhea (absence of a period) or oligomenorrhea (infrequent periods) although they show normal body weight, which adversely affects the chances of fertility.
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder. It simply referred as Anorexia. People with this disorder don’t eat because they fear of becoming fatty. Due to decreased food intake, the intestinal musculature undergoes atrophy and the digestive capabilities decrease. Menstrual cycles cease in these people, so they suffer from infertility.
