The meaning of the popular culture differs from culture to culture and it depends on who defines it. It is generally accepted as the culture of people at a specific time. It is recognized by the interaction between the person and daily activity of them. Most of the examples of popular culture come from the various genre like sports, music and arts, television technology etc. For example, sports is one of the most famous popular cultures .it is watched and played throughout the world.Main sporting events like the Olympics and the world cup are watched by the global community.
For example, cricket is a popular culture in India. It is not only a game but like a religion in the country. Similarly, baseball and football are very popular very much.
Popular culture influence and effects the life of the society in which it exists.
For example, hippie culture was very popular in the 70s and it affected lives of millions of people in the western culture. beatles and Twiggy were the legendary celebrity of this popular culture.
Soft power refers to the ability to influence and attract rather than the use of hard power(using money or force). Soft power can Change the choice of others by influencing, speaking and attracting them. Main factors of soft power are culture, political values and policies (foreign).
