How do the sociological perspectives view education and religion?
Sociology views religion as an institution that propagates certain values, beliefs and customs in the name of a higher entity which is beyond the human understanding. Religions hold certain beliefs that are beyond questioning that becomes the scared symbols of those religions which people venerate. The most important tasks of the religions is to provide spiritual sanctuary to people who belong to through some rituals that are considered to be sacred.
Functionalist view on education suggests that education serves different needs of the society such as socialization, social placement, social integration and cultural innovation whereas conflict theory suggests that education promotes inequality by having different curriculum, different facilities, different assessments etc. and finally Symbolic Interaction theory suggests that social interaction happens at all the places in the school campus thus promotes the social well being of all the people from different cultures and at the same time bringing more understanding.
