Expert Solution

Construction point of view:- The main difference between RL & LC circuit is Resistor is absent in LC circuit.

Where as RLC circuit consists of both Resistor,Inductor & Capacitor components.

RL & LC circuits are compact in size when compared to that of RLC circuit.

Application point of view:- The Differnce mainly lies in the application over one another circuits.

RL,RC,RLC circuits acts as a filter circuits.(i.e., to remove unwanted frequency components from the signals)

RL circuits(Filter circuits) are used for high pass or low pass characteristics.RL circuits disappiate power due to

the presence of Resistor(R) in the circuit.

LC filters have no resistance, hence they don't disappiate power.Better characteristics can be obtained with LC

circuits. But inductors are always undesirable. For low frequencies,Inductors are usually large, heavy & have far

from ideal characteristics(very non-linear).High frequency inductors have more losses.

RLC filters are similar but they disappiate power due to Resitor in it.

In this chapter we are looking at the differential equations that govern RC circuits. For a capacitor that is discharging, we know that going around the circuit the voltage should sum to zero: Vc + Vr = 0. Written in terms of charge and current, this is: q/C = - i R. Rewritten, q/C = -dq/dt R. What this is telling us is that the current is being set by the charge on the capacitor. We can use a numerical...

My lab was about an RC circuit and RL circuit, and talking about/showing the relationship of voltage and current for a capacitor and inductor by using a theoretically calculated tau in comparison to an experimentally found tau (using current/voltage calculated from 36.8% of initial value) from a simulation and experimentally found tau from the slope of the natural log of the current in the RC circuit and voltage in the RL circuit versus time from the same simulation. Draw phasor diagrams for the following circuits. A) For the first circuit: Analyze a series RC circuit. So an emf with frequency w and peak voltage V connected in series to a resistance with peak voltage V_R and a capacitor with a peak votage V_C. B) For the second one, do a parallel RL circuit. Same emf as above, but resistance R in parallel to inductor with inductance L. Step by step Thank you
