This website talks about the changing role of community colleges and its importance. Community colleges play a vital role for students to get the first level of higher education. The community colleges offer the students an open door admission, supports financially by lowering tuition and arranging the loan, flexible academic and class schedule.
Community colleges consist of nontraditional students of a large number of blacks and Hispanians. They are little older and work full-time when compared to four-year college students. Only the community college student educational goal intend them to transfer to the four-year college to obtain a degree. But the age, race, gender, socioeconomic status have the negative impact on these students which make them drop out from the four-year college.
Increasing the number of students in the community colleges will raise the economic payoffs and job opportunities. Establish a relationship between the community college and four-year college makes more transfer of students to obtain a degree from the four-year degree college. Periodical reexamines of community colleges, workforce training, and evaluation tool will lead to better performance of community college students.
