Tourism is increasing at an increasing rate and the popular destinations are growing faster as well. There is a natural limit to the destinations or carrying capacity. The hotel can accommodate only a certain limit. The flights can accommodate a certain number of people. The development of tourism requires careful coordination of all the stakeholders related to tourism in both the private and public sectors. In order to save tourism from itself, there is a need for sustainable tourism. Sustainable tourism takes into account the economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism. There is a need for sustainable development. Sustainable tourism is linked to sustainable mobility. This sustainable development is difficult as each destination chooses strategies that satisfy their current needs and benefits. It has been seen that the private sector in the tourism sector mainly uses market-oriented approaches and the public sector uses the supply-oriented approach. There is an everlasting contradiction between the degradation of the environment and profit gain and benefits from the tourism sector. The concept of sustainable tourism cant is achieved by using pure market-based approaches nor pure supply-based approaches. In order to rebalance the tourism sector itself, there should be a balance between marketing and destination management. The stakeholders of tourism have to analyze the environmental aspects of tourism and also have to look into the carrying capacity of the destinations.
