an essay of 800 words about polar bears and extinction
Polar bears are one of the countless species who are endangered.Polar bear is a hypercarnivorous bear whose native range lies largely within the Artic circle, encompassing the Artic ocean, it's surrounding seas and surrounding land masses. polar bears were the one of the first animals affected by global warming and their population is decreasing. It is a large bear, approximately the same size as the omnivorous Kodiak bear. They are about seven to eight feet long, measured from the nose to the tip of their very short tail.Around 1980, the arctic was as large as 8 million square kilometers.
Polar bears spends most of their lives on the sea ice of the Arctic ocean so they are classified as marine mammals. They spend over 50% of their time hunting for food.Their diet mainly consists of ringed and bearded seals because of they need large amounts of fat to survive.
At the present rate of global warming most of the frozen portions of the arctic may disappear by the end of this century. There are so many consequences may occur due to this.As a result of this , the polar bear habitat is getting demolished. The warmer temperatures are melting the ice in the North Pole and in the Arctic. Then polar bears are travelling miles and miles to find ice. Day by day this problem will get worse and worse. Hunters kill polar bear also, then it cause decrease in their population.
