Can findings from a single study be used to change practice? Provide a rationale for your response.
Identify the steps of the quantitative research process.
Describe how rigor is defined and achieved in qualitative research
No, a single study can not be used to change practice. It is possible to make errors in a single study. Errors could be made in sample collection, data recordings, measurement errors etc. So the researchers should conduct multiple study on a subject in different environments, different methods and processes to reach a concludion and then practice it.
Steps involved in quantitative research process are
1.state the research problem
2.define the purpose of the study
3.review related literature
4.formulate hypotheses and variables
5.select the research design
6.select the population and sample
7.collect the data
8.analyze tha data
9.communicate findings and conclusions
Rigor is defined as adhering to certain constraints or parameters. It gives validity and trustworthiness to any qualitative research. Rigor can be achieved through use of appropriate research tools, transparent and explicit research and use of different methodology technique.
Rigor ( trustworthiness) can be achived through member check, interviewer corroboration, peer debriefing, prolonged engagement, negative case analysis, auditability, confirmability, bracketing, and balance.
Two methods to achieve rigor are data triangulation and eliciting examples of interviewee accounts.
