Some states including United States of America use civil commitment proceedings to eradicate habitual sexual offenders from society for longer period of time. Once any federal agency confirms an individual to be sexually violent or dangerous then civil commitment proceedings is being carried out against the individual in order to find how the person is threat to the society. Civil commitment generally used for postprison confinement of sexual offenders.Some individual suffers mental illness & commit crimes without thinking about the consequences they need psychiatric treatments first of all. It's definitely a question of debate whether civil commitment is worth for the society or not. In some cases it is worth & in some cases it's not .It depends upon the intensity of crime being committed by the individual also including the circumstances on which the crime is being committed. The legislators along with the judicial system has a duty to have a system that is constitutional & which adheres to the constitutional principles.Constitutional rights of the citizens must be safeguarded. While tackling sensitive issues like this the course of law should use persuasion & peaceful means rather than coercive means.
