Explain the role of the humanities ( philosophy, religion and art) in personality psychology?

Personality has been a very influential and important concept in the discipline of psychology and understanding human behavior. Personality talks about the internal ways of thinking, nature, outward attitudes and actions. Humanities are related to the knowledge of human nature and the large social context.

Since humanities incorporate the various humanitarian aspects like relationships, religious organizations, and the art- so it has a great influence on personality psychology.

• Religion talks about beliefs and faiths. These beliefs make a person to carry out certain religious practices, maintain positive relationships, etc. Moreover, it influences the nature of human beings in carrying out oneself and with others.
• Philosophy talks about the general understanding/investigation of human nature, civilization, and the various aspects of human temperament. Philosophy makes us understands the things which cannot be seen like the emotions, rationality, conflicts, etc
• Humans are born to have some or other artistic tendencies. These tendencies of art are very varied and found in various fields. Some are good at talking, some are good with singing, some with acting, painting, etc Art makes humans give a platform to bring out their abilities, skills, and potentials. These potentials are studied in personality psychology.
• Culture- Culture determine the beliefs, ideas, and traditions that need to be followed. These core cultural beliefs are important aspects of personality. For instance, Indians give so much importance to their language, traditions, and family connection.
