Define and explain the psychology concept of personality
Personality is defined as the differences in individual characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Our personalities are determinants as to how we interact with the world.
Personality traits are stable and long lasting behaviors and feelings.
Personality states are temporary and dependent on that particular situation.
Some of the theories of personality are:
Big five personality traits: Consists of five basic personality traits:
i. Openness to experience, ii. conscientiousness, iii.agreeableness iv. extraversion, v. neuroticism

Raymond B Cattell through factor analysis, came up with with sixteen personality traits, which make up an individuals personality.
Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic Model
Sigmund freud's theory of psychosexual stages describes how a persons personality is shaped. Freud emphasizes on sexual, aggressive and unconscious motives of a person.
Psychosocial stages of development
Developed by eric ericson, describes a a persons journey through various stages of life and how a person faces challenges in each phase, and how it contributes to the development of personality.
