what are the differences and similarities between Gluconeogenesis and Glycolysis , I need a detailed answer please?
Ans- Glycolysis and Gluconeogenesis are metabolic process involved in the metabolism of glucose in cell.
Differences of Glycolysis and Gluconeogenesis -
Glycolysis-
1.Glycolysis is process in which glucose it converts into two molecules of pyruvate.
2. The raw material is used in thses process is glucose.
3. It occures in the cytoplasm of cell.
4. It is catabolic process.
5. It is exergonic process.
6. It occurs in overall ten reaction.
Gluconeogenesis-
1. It is process in which production of glucose from non carbohydrate sources.
2. The raw material is uses in these reaction is lactate, amino acid.
3. It take place in both mitochondria and cytoplasm of cell.
4. It is an anabolic process.
5. It is endergonic reaction.
6. It contain two irreversible reaction in glycolytic pathway by four other reaction.
Similarities between glycolysis and gluconeogenesis-
1. Glycolysis and gluconeogenesis are both process make use of ATP and water.
2. These both processes contain pyruvate molecule that is pyruvate is main entry point in both of the reactions.
3. Glucose is common in both of metabolic pathways.
4 Glycolysis and gluconeogenesis both are take place in cytoplasm of the cell.
