Why do you believe communication is important between interdisciplinary professionals during a public health emergency? Why do you believe advanced nurses should be involved in epidemiological research?
Interdisciplinary teams are an essential aspect of modern organizational work interdisciplinary team communication more important than in health care settings as the complex nature and demands of the health care work environment requires the expertise and knowledge of differing individuals or specialists who can work together to solve multifaceted and complex patient care problems. So if an public emergency occurs loke disaster, outbreak of infectious disease or any terrorist attack, the interdiscplinary team should work collaboratively for good patient outcome so there should be good understanding between team members for that communication is essential. This co-ordinates their services and gets the team working together towards a specific set of goals.
Epidemiology is the study and analysis of the distribution (who,
when, and where) and determinants of health and disease conditions
in defined populations. Advanced nurse has manymrolesmlike advocaad
educator, researcher, case finder, case manager, protector etc. So
in Epidemiology she is responsible for implementing accepted
standards and
procedures for the control and prevention of infectious diseases
and other conditions of
public health significance, including nosocomial infections. This
includes conducting
investigations, reviewing surveillance data, evaluating
environmental factors and making
recommendations for the control and containment of such diseases
and condition. Even they can have roles in preventive, curative,
rehabilitation andadiagnosis of illness and disease among
population. Therefore they should be involved in epidemiological
research.
