Research Muslim extremist terrorism. What are the main tenants of their aims? What should the United States do to prepare for attacks?
What started a long back with the Crusades where the Muslims and Christians fought each other in the name of religion, has taken a modern shape but this time, the West has taken an indirect route by exploiting the resources in the Islamic countries. This has angered the Muslim countries thus the world witnessed the Gulf War, Saddam Hussain’s regime, Afghan Taliban and ISIS terrorists who have gone mindless with their attack. They do not have any general reasons other than attacking the developed countries in the name of religion. They interpret the Quran differently and suit the verses according to themselves thus waging terrorist attack on all the other religions. So one of the most important reasons for their war on West is Jihad, the Holy War as mentioned in Quran. Secondly, they believe that the West has wronged them and robbed them of their resources and livelihood by suppressing and oppressing them with the power of weapons. Finally, it’s all about home grown terrorism meaning recruiting Muslims who are the citizens of the Western countries thus planning attack from within the target country.
The US should embrace tough security measures both externally and internally. Although the free movement of goods and services pose a great threat to the security measures, it should ensure the safety of everyone without interfering with the rights of its citizens. It has become obvious that it should tighten its airbase, especially after the 11/09 attack on its trade centre. It could identify communication between its citizens and the ISIS thus breaking the communication and possible attacks. It could renew the relationship with the Islamic countries by helping them rebuild their countries thus maintain good terms.
