• Some of the major problems among scholars studying African history would be the fact that many of these scholars are of African descent. This in turn will lead to scientific objectivity problems.
• These research studies might be biased and irrelevant or distorted based on African reality. This is always the case among other races and that is why it is a major problem.
• If people well-suited to study their own history cannot correctly study the history, what makes it better for other races, say Chinese, to study African history?
• Another problem that scholars face would be the mark that slavery has left African history. All we have of African history were that they were once slaves. Scholars have to start from scratch unlike world history which is well documented and many researchers or historians have a basic groundwork to start from.
• Combining problem one with problem two leads us to a very problematic spot where scholars, especially African scholars, have a hard time studying/researching the history but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. And that is why African Studies today have certain disciplines and other criterias that allow history to be uncovered and taught.
