I am a special education teacher at an elementary school and I teach special needs students. I need to write a SWOT analysis for a class I am in, I am writing on the subject of teachers need more training or professional development to be able to work with these students. I work with them every day but there are teachers that have problems with these students.I know what SWOT stands for but I have problems coming up with the strengths and weaknesses and possible opportunities. Professional development is a big issue where I work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
SWOT Analysis on requiring more training on professional development to teach the students:
Strengths:
1. Better Teaching skills: The most appropriate strength with providing such kind of training would be the development of the most strategic teaching skills that would help the teachers understand the students in a better way.
2. Better goodwill of the organisation: Another strength about this training would be the goodwill it would bring to the organisation. Teaching having more knowledge would result in a better name for the school and thus would create a goodwill in the market.
Weaknesses:
1. Cost: Although the training would cost the organsation a lot of cost as every teacher has to be skilled and taught with this training that would increase the cost.
2. Time: Another weakness would be the time effectivity. The training provided would take weeks to make the teachers understand the importance of the development skills. It would reduce the effectivity.
Opportunities:
1. More Student Offers: With more goodwill in the market regarding the special skills that is being taught in the organisation, more student offers and enrolment would arise for the organisation.
2. More diversified goals: As more and more offers would arise, it could result for more diversification for the organisation. The school could open its branches to embard and impark more skills.
Threats:
1. Loss of Funds: With such higher costs than before while providing the training, the organisation could see the threat of going into the loss of funds where there is no amount left to cover the fixed costs as well.
2. Can't focus on key areas: Apart from this, by putting the time to teach the teachers and provide them with training, would make them not perform other tasks and thus los off effectivity and waste of time would result in losing focus on other important key areas of working.
