Every 20-30 years or so a new Generation in society develops.
Below are a few descriptions of recent generations and their
characteristics.
Traditionalists: Individuals in this generation were born prior to
the end of World War II (1925-1942), this group also is referred to
as Veterans, Builders of the Nation, or the Silent Generation.
Individuals from this group are viewed as stable, conformists, and
reliable.
Baby Boomers: Individuals in this generation were born between 1943
and 1964, this generation has experienced many of the societal
“firsts.” Issues such as desegregation and integration, as well as
other significant political and cultural changes faced the young
adults of this generation. They’re now in their 50s and 60s, and
are characterized by optimism and a reluctance to grow old.
Generation X: is generally defined as those born from the early
1960s to the early 1980s. The term has also been used in different
times and places for a number of different subcultures or
countercultures since the 1950s. Gen-Xers also have been called
Baby Busters and the 13th Generation. Now in their mid-20s to early
40s, they grew up in the culture created by the Baby Boomers and
have been described as self-indulgent, mobile and materialistic.
They have been influenced by technology as well as by shifts in
family and societal trends including divorce, two-income households
and gender, racial and ethnic diversity. Given this worldview,
their values tend toward individualism and self-reliance.
These are several examples of past generations, how they’re
described, and some of the issues they’ve faced.
Think about today’s young adults and their generation (some, if not
most of you are probably in this generation) and
Come up with a minimum of 4 issues or themes, and please describe
each issue in a well-developed paragraph. Don't just list them.
The problems of Generation Z are; 1. overpopulation
2. social widening of rich and poor
3. environmental changes
4 . depletion of energy and AL
1. overpopulation -according to current rate of population we will soon reach the carying capacity of earth around in 50 years, sometimes this period seems to be a bit long period but there can be problem arrise such as with food , employment, law , order. It can also aggrevate problems like global warming, environmental pollution, habitat loss, consumption of finite natural resourses such as foosil fuels , lands, sixth mass extension. Some of the actions that government can deal with it is provide fund in family planning programs, improvement of health care to reduce infant mortality, make contraception more legal and to be available in all areas.
2. social widening of rich and power- the increase in wealth has only gone to people who are wealthier and this increases disparity , it is having apparent effect on health and social problems, this distinction places people in heirarchy that leads to status problems , increase in stress ,poor health , inability for people to invest in education, loer level of economic growth, when human capital is neglected to high end consumption, this inequality in society increases incentive to increase crime, so there should be increment in minimum wages, building og assests for working families, investment in education, residential segregation should be ended all thses can reduve this inequality.
3 environmental changes- The major problems in this invlves globsl warming, forest depletion, melting of ice caps, forest depletion, species extinctions. There is a change in environment due to our own actions, the other biggest challenge is rate in which we pollute and consume resourses is not sustainable, healthy ecosystem clean ourwater , purify ourair , maintain our soil, regulation of climate, provides us with food so we need to protect it by reduce, reuse, recycle, educate people, plant trees.
4. Depletion of energy - fossile fuels are irreversible source of energy, its cost effective ,help us to produce large amount of enrgy , we literally depend upon this for food , materials, clothes , phones, either directly or indirectly, some natural gas is also important for making fertilizes and without it would affect food production, the loss of this resources have a shattering effect on civilization.
