Consider the four generations of workers now in the workplace. Identify a worker you know from each generation. How do they fit into their generational stereotype? How do they differ? Are there rea- sons other than age that accounts for the similarities and differences in workers?

I work in an organization where we have individuals ranging from different ages. Four different generations would be:

  • Freshers: Those who just entered in an workplace and are very energetic but takes a lot of time to learn new things and experience the work culture.
  • Those with 4-6 years experience: These are the people who are very energetic as well as confident as they are into work from many years now and they know how the process goes and are very well equipped with that. They learn new things at very fast pace.
  • Those with atmost 15 years experience: These people are sitting at the higher levels and manage people at lower levels and try to manage work in such a way that it reduces the cost overall.
  • Those with more than 15 year experience: These are the people who start loosing their capacity to learn new things and can just observe the work which needs to be done.

People who are old age and have worked hard to grow have different mindset to view things while new comers who have instant coffee attitude have different point of view at things. I would say, no age group is better among them, but a viewpoint of mixture of both is well to run the work efficiently. There are reasons other than age marks the differences in workers as new comers are well equipped with and have knowledge about new technologies in market which can save a lot of time and reduce manpower, thus well efficient and effective. They have different though process as they have born and brought up in different culture where they got everything very easily while earlier people used to work hard to get things done.
