Credentialing is a process of assessing qualifications of a practitioner in a health care organization. All health care workers must have a valid credential to increase the trust and confident among patients and it acts as a source to select their health care providers.

Privilege is the process of giving permission to the health practitioner to engage in specialized clinical practices.

The credentialing and privileging process for new and existing medical staff:

The first step in the credentialing and privileging is: Application- The preapplication process involves in submission of curriculum vitae.The applicant meets eligible requirements are considered. The provider has to agree to provide continuous care tot he patients, adhered to the organizational policies,rules and regulations. Maintenance of proffesional liability and to update the information related to health condiitons and vaccinations. Ready to undergo mental and physical fitness. Acknowledge that all the information provided is truthful and correct.

Second step involves in identification of the applicant. The applicant must submit photo id and updated proffessional qualifications. Criminal checks to be done to identify legal pursuits.

Third step : Process of application - health care organization verifying the credials of the practitioners, experiences,training,and whether the practitioner is able to do the requested privileges. Once the applicant meets all required standards the health care organization approves the credentials and privileging to the competent medical staffs.
