How does the introduction of nutrients alter the eutrophication process? How are these nutrients introduced to waterways?
Eutrophication is natural aging of lake by increase in concentration of nutrients. Nutrients is essential elements for primary production by plants or other photosynthesis organisms. Alter concentration of plant nutrients is a biological process. Eutrophication is mainly caused by increase in availability of nitogen and phosphorus present in soil or water in form of nitrate & phosphate In young lake the water is cold & clear, supporting little life. with time streams draing into lake introduced nitrogen & phosphorus which encourage growth of aquatic organisms .As lake fertility increases, plant & animal life burgeons & organic remain deposited on lake bottom then water become warmer & causes death of fishes because of decrease in oxygen availability. Pollutents from man,s activities like effluents from the industries & homes can radically also accelerate aging process this phenomenon is called accelerated or cultural eutrophication
