One of the major causes of scientific and technological progress in the United States is reflected by the desire of US leadership and founding fathers to encourage scientific creativity. US national policy at the time of industrial revolution that had just started also encouraged innovation during early years. Another cause for the progress can be seen as the US environment social as well as political ensured a warm welcome for scientists from other countries. One of the distinguished early migrant was the British chemist Joseph Priestley, who was facing political opposition because of his unorthodox politics. Another example of the genius is Alexander Graham Bell, who came from Scotland in 1872 to US, developed and patented the telephone and inventions related to it. Likewise, Vladimir Zworykin, a Russian resident immigrated from Russia in 1919 to States transporting with himself the information of x-rays and cathode ray tubes, which later won him first patent on a television system which was invented by him. A number of Jewish scientists who were apprehensive of the consequences of anti-Semitism, particularly in countries like Germany and Italy also searched for sanctuary in the United States, where warmly welcomed to settle in US. Certainly, numerous scientific and technological advances in the course of the Atomic Age were the accomplished by such immigrants.
Reality of nuclear fission that was accomplished in the United States was also supported enormously by the arrival intellectuals who were escaping from their home countries due to the growing fear of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, who may have prosecuted them.
