What does it mean to say that human development is integrated, interactive, and dynamic?
Human development refers to a multidimensional process related to the expansion of a person's capabilities, which helps in enhancing one's well-being, attaining good health, aquiring knowledge and having a good standard of living. Human development is a dynamic process. There are three major kinds of human development, namely physical developmet (or development of human body in terms of changes in height and weight, changes in muscles and nerves and changes in body organs), mental development (or development of psychological or cognitive capabilities like acquisition of language, enhancement in areas of thinking, reasoning and problem solving and emotional development) and social development (or development of social skills like interactions and development of relationships). Human development is an integrated process as different kinds of development take place together and simultaneously. Physical, psychological and social development combine together or integrate to develop the capabilities of an individual, which helps him to deal with different kinds of situations in life. Human development is an interactive process as one's development takes place while interacting with the outside environment or the surrounding. The outside environment is a crucial determinant of one's development. It is important to expose a child to a healthy and interactive environment, so that he or she can realize his or her full potential. A child's environment should be able to fulfill his essential requirements, so as to bring about holistic developemnt of the child. If a child is exposed to a deprived environment, he or she will not be able to develop holistically. His or her requirements will not be fulfilled, and the child will consequently lag behind, as compared to children of his or her age.
