You are an instructional designer for the learning and development division of a large insurance company. Virtually all employees at the company use computer for 6-7 hours of every work shift each day. As a result, many of these workers have developed physical ailments related to excessive computer usage on the job. As a result, the company has requested that your division create a brief training program on strategies for minimizing the negative effects of computer use on a person’s eyes and body. Consequently, which of the following strategies would you include in the training program?

Here, being an instructional designer for the learning and development division of a large insurance company, I find that all employees at the organizational place use computer for 6 to 7 hours of every work shift each day. As a result, many of workers have faced physical ailments. Now, organization wants to create a brief training program with the help of my division that will focus on creating various strategies for minimizing the negative effects of computer use on a person’s eyes and body. Let me state about such strategies as these are to be included in the training program,

  • We can help employees to know about adequate lighting arrangement for the room that contains computers. Employees can improve their awareness level and act with gaining knowledge, here, overhead lighting arrangement, adjusting brightness of the room and installing curtains can resolve the applicable issues of eye strain.
  • The next strategy to help employees and other people to know and gain more insights about computer settings that will minimize the negative effects of computer use on a person’s eyes and body. For example: using LCD monitor could be effective choice in this regard.
  • Employees can be suggested to check their eyes before the doctor and they should use Computer glasses, as many people may be required to work for long hours before computer.
  • Employees should be trained and helped to gain their awareness level on how they are maintaining ergonomic practices, how they are keeping their body alignment and maintaining comfort level.
  • The strategies should include gaining more insights on computer usage and implementing various ways to resolve health problem.
