What is the purpose of determining an instrument’s internal consistency?
We know that the internal consistency measures the consistency within the instrument. The main purpose of determining an instrument’s internal consistency is to find the reliability of this instrument for the use of measuring the variable under study. It is important to find the reliability of the instrument used in different tests for getting proper results. Internal consistency of the instrument depends on the different types of instruments used for performing different tests. For example, a digital thermometer for checking body temperature would be more reliable than scaling tube thermometer. Instrument reliability is nothing but the way of ensuring that any instrument used for measuring experimental variables gives the same results every time. To check the internal consistency of the instrument is important because we can find whether the instrument is valid for measuring purpose or not.
