Best practice in critical care nursing , selected subject is "handwashing"
Recently in critical care, infection control department found the number of hospital acquired infections are on rise than never before and situation isn't improving. The entire team of critical care department gathered together in order to tackle the situation.
After serious discussion and scrutiny it is found that inadequate handwashing practices are causing the issue. Lack of handwashing is the major reason for cross infection.
Shortly after the findings the department started to wash hands more often than before and recorded the number of times everyone washed their hands after handling with a patient or a procedure.
The new process went on for a month and the outcomes were assessed. Surprisingly the percentage of infections fell down to 60% than previous month. The entire team was overwhelmed by the experience and they followed the new amendment there after.
However the evident based study on handwashing policies improved the overall patient care to a next level.
