RSSI POWER BANDS
SENSITIVITY
In LTE networks, when a person handling the phone call moves from one location to another the process of handover happens.
This process of handover requires calculation of signal strength so that the handover is done successfully and the call will be going smoothly without any major interruptions.
So this RSSI is an indicator of received signal strength which measures total average power received which can be observed only in the OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) symbols containing reference symbols for antenna port in the measurement bandwidth over N resource blocks.
The total received power of the carrier (which has higher frequencies) includes the power from co-channel serving & non-serving cells, adjacent channel interference, thermal noise, etc..
RSSI = wideband power = noise + serving cell power + interference power.
RSSI=12*N*RSRP
Where RSRP is reference signal received power and N is number of resource blocks in an LTE network.
The Higher is the RSSI Higher is the signal strength.
Sensitivity: sensitivity is the minimum signal strength required to get the a considerable output from the received signal or from the input itself.
It is based on the SNR ratio with minimum possible of error rate.
In the above figure if x is the input then smallest change required to detect an output is called the sensitivity.
This is the one which determines the performance of a communication system.
Hope this helps.
