The play Macbeth presents two characters, Macbeth and Banquo, who are both given prophecies by the Weird Sisters. The two men react in vastly different ways to their given fates. Whose course of action does the play seem to deem "correct"? Does either man react "correctly," based on their eventual fates? If you believe neither chose the correct path, create an argument for what they should have done. If you believe one of the two reacted correctly, create an argument as to why you believe that. Pull quotes from the play and use in-text citations to support your answer.
The witches predicted that Macbeth would be the Thane of Cawdor and then he would be the King of Scotland. They also predicted that Banquo would be the father of a group of kings and he would not be king.
Banquo's action is the correct action. Like Banquo, Macbeth also took the prophecy lightly. But when Macbeth found that the first prophecy came to be true he began to believe that the second prophecy would be true. Therefore he began to behave incorrectly.
Macbeth was misled by the Lady Macbeth. He was tempted by the fulfilment of the first prophecy. But he could control himself thinking future consequence. His balance was spoiled by lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth tempted him to be king by killing his sacred guest KIng Duncan. It is the most heinous sin in the world.
To suppress his sin, and to divert the course of fate, Macbeth also killed Banquo because Banquo only knew of the prophecy.
