3 Do you think someone with GERD might think they were having a heart attack? If so, what would be a good way to distinguish the two?
ANS 1. Gastroesophogeal reflux disease ( GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting mouth and stomach.
MEAL AND BEVERAGE THAT COULD BE BAD FOR GERD
1. High fat meals or fried foods like French fries potatoechips taken with whole milk ,tea,coffee or colas.
2. Spicy foods taken with Alcohol , acidic juice or citrus juices.
ANS 2. THREE THINGS - that can increase abdominal pressure -
1. Overeating-. It may cause pressure in abdomen as stomach stretching to accommodate the food.
2. Constipation - lack of physical activity , lack of fiber, dehydration , may cause difficulty in passing bowel movement.
3. Stress , anxiety , nervousness may cause pressure in abdomen.
4. Indigestion or gas also increase pressure.
5. Menstrual (ramps) or Endometriosis.
ANS 3. GERD patient can generally have chestpain or chest discomfort or other symptoms that mimic those of heart attack ,GERD cancause heart burn, which is a common type of non-stop cardiacchest pain.
Although heartburn or heartattack have a similar symptoms . Heartattack occurs when a artery of heart don't get blood flow and patient feel nausea , dizziness , shortness of breath.
In heartburn the. acid in stomach starts to come up into esophagus or mouth and patient feel acid or burning sensation in chest , it usually takes place after eating ,and it can be treated with antiacids.
