For this week choose a news article from a well-known news source about why it interests you and why it is related to financial accounting
I have chosen the article on Infosys whistleblower recent case - you can find many articles about it in economic times, live mint.
I am having an interest in it because Infosys is very big multinational information technology giant and it is a very respectable company to work in. Just like it was in case of Enron - where employees felt very much respected to be part of the company before the scandal.
Infosys founder is Mr Narayana Murthy. He is a very great personality. He is known for his ethics and such news from his founding company is very much shocking.
Shock creates Interest.
The whistleblower has accused that Infosys has window dressing
on its financial statements. It is a very serious financial
fraud.
It is related to Financial Accounting because windows dressing
involves the manipulation of financial statements in such a way so
as show a much better and clean picture of the company. As per the
latest news the Infosys is also facing strict charges from SEC and
a class action suit in the USA for the damages done to the
investor.
