One of the most important factors that would make communication effective and powerful is non-verbal communication. This would mean that mere words or speeches would be only sounds if they are not accompanied by appropriate non-verbal cues such as, eye contact, postures, facial expressions, gestures etc. The benefit of using non-verbal communication effectively would help the listeners understand the emotions of the speaker while the non-verbal cues expressed by the listeners would help the speaker to assess whether the message is accepted or not. Non-verbal cues are also culture specific and context specific as the touching, physical proximity, power distance would all depend on the culture and context. Thus, learning the art of non-verbal communication would not only help one become a better communicator but also would help one exhibit appropriate non-verbal cues as a listener.
