Low sodium diet.
Breakfast can include two of the following.
Apple, orange, grape, cranberry, or grape fruit juice (0mg na. )
Oat meal (no salt) plain eggs, English muffins(200mg), low sodium pancakes, skim milk, coffee or tea.
Lunch.
Fresh turkey sandwich no salt, grilled chicken, low salt tuna and bread 2 slices, vegetables, macaroni salad.
Dinner.
Roast beef(4mg) baked potatoes( 10 mg) green beans 1 cup(5mg)skim milk, noodles no salt, spaghetti no salt.
Sodium is involved in cellular function, fluid regulation, electrolyte imbalance and maintaining blood pressure. It is recommended to take 2 to 3 grams of salt for the following disease conditions.
Hypertension.. Hidh salt intake can lead to high blood pressure.
Heart failure. Salt intake leads to water retention.
Chronic kidney disease. High salt intake can lead to water retention.
Foods to avoid. Fast food, salty snack foods, frozen dinner, processed meats, salted or canned products, cheese and diary, pickled vegetables and seasonings.
