There are mainly 4 types of management styles which are used worldwide by leaders and managers. These management styles can be used time to time upon situations and in combinations as well.

Let us see what styles can be useful in the given situations:

Situation 1.You are considering a major change in the way your company does business. Your staff has an excellent record of achieving goals, and your relationship with them is trusting and supportive.

Management style to apply: The Participative or Democratic style

Reason: To bring a major change in the doing business or a change working of a company, participation of employee is a must and with the use of Democratic style we can get important inputs from the team and use them in effective decision making. And in the given situation it is clear that the staff is credible and also experienced hence participative management style shall be helpful in the given scenario.

Situation 2.Your employees do a great job. A situation has developed in which you need to make quick decisions and finish a project by the end of the week.

Management style to apply: The Directive style

Reason: Since the requirement is to finish the task within timeline therefore in this situation "Do it as I say" management style is helpful and getting task done from employees within timeline. Directive management style is most helpful in the crisis situations where project completion within timeline is a must.

Situation 3.Your employees are having trouble getting the job done. Their performance as a whole is less than expected.

Management style to apply: The Coaching style

Reason: In the given situation performance improvement is required therefore coaching and mentoring of employees is a must for getting job done in a required manner. In coaching style leader or manager focuses on skill development of the employees and mentoring them in the trouble situations to help perform in a better way.

Situation 4.You have an employee who is very motivated but has little experience.

Management style to apply: The Coaching style

Reason: In case of little experience of employee mentoring and giving required coaching to perform the task is important. By giving proper training employee will feel confident and be able to perform the job in a required manner.
