Why were railroads so important to America’s second industrial revolution? What events demonstrate their influence on society and politics as well as the economy?
First industrial revolution happened in Britain in 1750s while second in 1800s in USA. Railroads played an important role in this because it made transfer of raw material and finished good faster than ever. This has led to creation of jobs and taking advantage of quick availability of needs to compete with powers like Britain. Railroad , transcontinental, reduced the time of travel and expense from West to cost from 6 month to few days. It made America more competitive.
Social impact -- It led to unification of America and cultural exchange as people mobility increased. It helped in strengthening the idea of US as nation of united states. Moreover, railroad also led to development of telegraph, that enables people to connect faster with the loved one .
Politics. It shaped in way the platform for cuvilcwar of 1850s to 1870s.. people from one region now could move to all of ameriaca. It refers to political unification fir a single cause.
Economic . It created huge no of job. Led to thriving of of industry and business.
