How does culture affect our consumption and ethical decisions and responsibilities?
Culture influences consumption pattern to a large extent. The product like alcohol, cigarette etc have less demand in society. It due to the cultural prohibitions. In certain cultures it prohibits the consumption of non vegetarian foods like fish, meat etc. In the case of textile ,materials also the culture have greater impact on the deciding the buying pattern of people. The culture differs according to the geography. The demand for clothes also varies according to cultures.
The ethical decision making process is challenging due to varied cultural backgrounds. Culture affects the individuals view off death, family structure, time, environmental space etc. It affects the inclination of an individual to behave ethically. It also plays a key role in determining whether certain action or practices in acceptable or not.
Each and every culture compels the individual to perform certain responsibilities to the society, environment etch. There are several social responsibilities listed in the culture which has to be performed by every individual. According to this people need to show respect towards the environment, safeguard and promote cultural diversity, show respect to society, etc.
