Wires Oman LLC is one of the oldest manufacturers specialized in producing Cables & Wires in the
Sultanate of Oman. The company was established in 2013 and was running successfully. In 2017, the
company decided to expand its business. Hence, they took steps to arrange and structure the works to
accomplish the organisational goals. They divided work activities into separate job tasks. And specialized
employees were given part of an activity rather than the entire activity to increase the work output.
But the employees and functional managers were confused because the procedures, rules and
responsibilities were not correctly specified. Sometimes employees were compelled to report to different
managers at the same time. Also, they felt that the managers failed to motivate, inspire and communicate
with them properly.
But, by the end of 2017, the company faced the problem in the coordination of different activities which
decreased the productivity and delayed the completion of tasks. Further, Wires Oman LLC has to focus on
the external environmental dimensions. Further, the administrations have to follow the rules of business
social responsibilities in Oman. As a result, the administration of the company faced a lot of confusions and
the company incurred huge losses.

Management functions responsible for the issues in Wires Oman LLC are as follows

  • In the given case, it is noted that the planning of the expansion activities has not been properly done and communicated to the workers. It is noted that the rules and procedures were vague.
  • The management of the entity has failed to create a hierarchy which would make the roles and reporting responsibilities of the employees more clear and understandable. Therefore the work flow in the entity is not adequately organised.
  • It is also noted that the management did not provide enough motivation and inspiration to the employees to achieve their goals. Thus the management failed to lead their workforce towards achievement of the organizational goals.
  • Decreased productivity and several other issues confronted by the entity by the year end indicate that the management has not taken any measures to address the above mentioned issues. Thus the management did not adequately execute its controlling and directing role.

Three external dimensions to be focussed by the organisation are

  • Customers- Since the productivity of the organisation has decreased, the entity may not be in a position to meet the demands of the customers. The entity may lose its customers if their requirements are not satisfied.
  • Competitors- The competitors of Wires Oman LLC may take advantage of the entity's current financial position and performance.
  • Technology- It is noted that the entity is one of the oldest manufacturers of cables and wires. The entity would be overtaken by the competitors if they do not make arrangements for application of latest technologies and innovations.
