Gender is used to define the conventional social roles for males and females. This consists of different gender norms that have evolved, mainly through gender conflict in Western society. Gender roles in society means how we're expected to act, speak, dress, groom, and conduct ourselves. For example, girls and women are generally expected to dress in typical feminine ways and be polite, accommodating, and nurturing. Men are usually expected to be strong, aggressive, and bold. Every society, ethnic group, and culture have gender role expectations, but they can be very different from group to group. We can also evolve in the same culture over time. Men and women are also expected to dress and groom in ways that are stereotypical to their gender (men wearing pants and short hairstyles, women wearing dresses and make-up. Gender norms play an important role in gender identity and gender expression as well. Within many Western communities, gender norms are associated with an individual's cultural , societal and religious identity and their beliefs. These cultural beliefs and values may influence how people relate to one another, including gender norms. There may also be cultural norms that define the roles or roles played by men and women. Social norms serve to maintain gender norms by enforcing a social order of values, relationships, and roles for everyone in society. If gender norms are violated, these norms can be considered discriminatory. Gender norms are also assumed to be socially established or expressed by the social structures, such as families, communities, the state, or religions. The word gender is used to define all aspects of the socialization of human beings into the roles of male or female, however, the roles are typically associated with specific conditions and circumstances of life.
